WHO WE ARE
We are Planet First Foundation founded in 2019 by our president and CEO, Samuel Melnick. Planet First Foundation is a non-partisan education foundation and think tank driven to create solutions to the dominant causes of adverse climate change.
Planet First Foundation was born while Sam traveled to Costa Rica in summer 2019. Costa Rica has run on 100% renewable energy for as long as 299 days in a single stretch. With its unique geography, forward thinking solutions, and commitment to sustainability, Costa Rica has used its rivers, volcanoes, wind and solar power to generate its country's power. By the year 2021, Costa Rica plans to be completely carbon neutral.
WHAT WE DO
Planet First Foundation's guiding principles concern the following:
(A) Reduction of the unnecessary use of non-recyclable items and overuse of single-use plastic items,
(B) Shifting of our habits toward reliance on reusable (or compostable) items,
(C) Facilitation of recycling in our work places, social gathering places (i.e., theaters, parks, malls, schools, sports arenas, food courts, concerts halls, churches, synagogues, mosks, hotels, universities, etc.) and more, which efforts are essential to a sustainable environment, and
(D) Bringing about quick and effective solutions to achieve the larger goal of greater sustainability through reduced waste.
HOW WE DO IT?
It’s all about reducing single-use plastics. We raise funds to support others to carry out these changes in their homes and work places and daily life:

Carry Reusable Bags to avoid using a Plastic Bag

Use Plastic-Free Containers

Travel near or far with your gear - Bamboo cutlery and a non-plastic food tray, straw and water bottle

Buy in bulk to avoid using extensive food packaging

Always recycle good plastics, glass and metals

Carry a reusable coffee cup or flask
